First, stop the water
- Shut the main water valve. If you do not know where it is, ask when you call.
- Turn off the water heater if the supply to it has been isolated.
- Keep clear of electrical fixtures, outlets and panels near the water.
- Photograph the damage before moving things, if it is safe to do so.
